1976 Lincoln Memorial Cent/ Help With Identifying

Skippy72 Valued Member United States 447 Posts	Posted 09/20/2022 07:20 am Good morning. I came across this coin in a bulk bag I bought. It's bronze and weighs 3.10 grams. It has something "Growing" on with it, as you will see to the left of the word "IN" on the obverse. There is lettering that is on the edge and carries over onto the face of the coin, like the letter "S" that is visible by "IN". Here are a few images... Skippy72 Valued Member United States 447 Posts	Posted 09/20/2022 1:37 pm Spence is it possible that it may have left the mint like that? It's the same color/tone as the coin and it's on there! As in, it's not stuck to it. It seems part of the coin. Also, what about areas like the raised "S"? The edge has areas where its not filled in and raised area's as well.. Spence Moderator United States 34428 Posts	Posted 09/20/2022 5:14 pm Well anything is possible, but in order for there to be a lump struck onto the surface of this coin at the mint, there necessarily would have had to have been a similar hole in the die that struck this coin. I just don't see that happening.
