Do you know why my coin would only weigh 4.24g?

Please put the year in your heading and supply a clear photo of both sides.
Without them, there is no way of helping you.

The photos show nothing. Is there plating still on the coin? What kind of scale did you use? What color is it? Chrome? Nickel? Steel?

The 1953 nickels are a different weight than one let's say, 1955, because they used chrome plated steel to mint nickels from 1951-1954. This is also true with 1944-1945. They used nickel for another purpose.

The chrome-plated steel nickel should weigh 4,54 g. Photos show maybe some metal has been lost (corrosion?), especially near the rims. Don't know if that would account for the missing 0.30 g.

Thank you for confirming the near shoulder fold.
It's the weight that confues me, I'm using a digital scale and I get the proper amounts for other coins.
