Just found a small collection of coins in a little tin box yes! It was mine from 24 years ago! Long story short will probably be posting coins here periodically I have a few coins I have questions about. I could also use some advice to maybe post and ask about multiple coins in one thread.

Hello and

Your coin is actually a 1944S dime, minted in San Francisco. The 'S' mintmark is on the reverse after the word 'ONE'. The 'W' on the obverse is the designer's initials, AW for Adolf Weinman. It's 90% silver so quite a nice find!

Some very recent US coins do indeed have a 'W' mintmark, for West Point, but it was not used back in the 1940s!

Title and subforum are both fixed.

That is a pretty cool find @zac! We are glad to have you posting here on CCF, but remember that best practice is to start a new thread for each new coin. Thx.

Thank you for corrections and welcomes. Was also wondering if this coin was worth grading?

Nice example. Not thinking it would be worth submitting for grading--given the cost of grading services and the overall value of the coin.

Definitely not worth grading - value is around $2.
