What Is Going On With This Penny? - Coin Community Forum

As you can see from the pictures uploaded I've come across a penny unlike something I've never seen before. The date and mint mark are unknown. I found it while coil roll hunting. Reminds me a bit of the better counterstamp coins where the design is removed partially, or first removed fully and then another is placed on top. Also similar to some of the hobo nickel coins so maybe they were learning how to do that.
