Hello I was wondering what caused the damage on this penny as well as it looks like doubling(?) on the nose, chin, date, and mint mark. It looks like it was dipped in acid and there are bubbles.

Thanks!

Looks like environmental damage and split copper plating along with zinc rot. Looks like a Close AM to me.

Zinc corrosion under and coming through the copper plating. Common on the copper coated zinc cents, especially if they have been exposed to the environment for a period of time.

Here a Photoshop reference image to help identify the Wide AM and Close AM cents. It's for the 1992-D cent, but it works here too.
