@YesOrNo: Thanks for the heads up!

IMO, the 1997 silver dollar has a more engaging design. The central design shared by the 2022 coins seems a bit generic.

For comparison:

The hockey fan in me really wants to buy the Au version......the coin collector says, ugh, another excess premium Au coin with a mediocre design........On the anniversary of Henderson scoring THE goal, he could have been featured.

@Tripoli: Do you already have the 1997 SD?

I guess you would have to be a "Die Hard" Hockey or Gold fan to fork out $4100 Cdn for one ounce of Gold.

Now that I have the 2022 $2 colorized coin in hand, I'd be a buyer of a colorized SD or a colorized 1oz/38mm format .

The 50mm is too large and yes too generic.

I'm content with the unadorned SD from 1997. IMO, it exhibits great engraving detail and captures the excitement of the event!

Of course, I can't say never...

@commems, I totally agree about the 1997 coin: a classic. I'd like to see better offerings for the 50th anniversary NCLT coins.

Happy collecting!
