Many speculated how long it would be before coins started showing effigy of King Charles III. Some were saying maybe early-mid 2023 or longer, that it could take months for the King to sit for artists and for coin designs to go through an approval process. Well it seems the King and mint were more prepared. I just noticed The Royal Mint released pics of 2022 coins showing King Charles III on memorial coins for the Queen. Release date Oct. 3. IMO a rather prompt release from the mint, bravo.

Very quick - I think somewhere said it was done from photos and not from a sitting.

From The Royal Mint website:

Each UK £5 and 50p coin, along with the one ounce platinum, one ounce gold, one ounce silver and quarter-ounce gold Proof coin in the collection, will run from Monday, 3 October 2022 until Saturday, 31 December 2022.

Some special editions had mintage limits and are already sold out, like the 10oz Gold Proof Coin, Limited Edition 100 pieces, which had a price tag of £29,405.00.

Ok, I guess that means very large mintage numbers for the non-special edition coins.
