But most often the reverse was polished off the coin, making it lighter than normal, removing the design. So if less than the 5 grams the coin was probably altered. If the obverse has a rim and the reverse doesn't, another clue that it was removed from the surface of the coin. If you see fine scratches, that is also a clue that it was removed. To be missing the opposite, is not a common thing to find unless the coin was altered. Report this Post to the Staff
