Hi..I have a question on my 1903 Indian head. I'm trying to determine if I should send it off to be graded because I don't want to waste money I don't have, of I don't have to! I asked a local coin collector and sent him pictures online. He offered to give me Three Cents and told me these are very common coins. ( I know a lot were made but they aren't they common!) I think he was trying to do me off. It's a bring color but in the neck, there's an iridescent like sheen. It's very defined when you look at the lettering and edges. I can read the word liberty in the head dress, but it has gained a bit. Any help and advice is greatly appreciated!! Kae. P.S. I'm not sure if this is allowed, but I have plenty of pictures upon request!

There were nearly 67 million minted so they are fairly common, especially in low grades.
It appears yours has been cleaned, circulated with a bit of damage so it would probably be worth a dollar or two.

Your coin appears to be harshly cleaned and not worth sending in. A coin needs a minimum retail value of $100 to $150 to justify all costs involved in sending in and your coin has little if any collector premium. Also,in future posts please properly crop and rotate photos before posting...thanks.

Only error is a harshly cleaned coin. If you want to grade that's up to you. You'll pay around $20-$30 for a coin worth under $1. I don't see the value.

I don't see any errors. You would look for doubling in liberty or dates. There are misplaced digits to look for too. Sometimes they are in the neck... Or off center or double struck. Those are what you would look for. Buy yourself a Cherry Pickers Guide and start from there.
