Is there any way to restore the date, like I read about Buffalo nickels?

Is there any worth to a dateless IHC over $.01?

No they cannot be restored. However, you can tell it it is pre-1886 or post 1886 by where the feathers are in relation to the motto, assuming you can see the motto.

Value maybe 5 cents?

that is what I thought. I knew about the feathers, but the one in my pocket now is too worn for even that. The date wants to come out, but won't. Not quite as bad as this:

but it does have some of that pock-marking.

I guess the decision is whether to put it with the copper pennies, spend it, or keep it in my pocket.

IHCs normally have bold dates, so when it's missing is probably pretty far gone into AG.
