Hello Folks,
I am new to this forum and coin collecting as well. I inherited a good amount of coins from my grandfather and have been going through them and learning over the last few months. This is really cool stuff and history. I appreciate any advice or opinions you can give me. Attached are some photos of two coins I have that I am not sure of. The 1966 Dime is worn on obverse and reverse and I cant tell if it is a stamp error or just wear/tear. The other coin is a 1997 penny that is lacking copper, both sides with little showing in spots. There is also a odd pitting in the face of Lincoln I am not sure of. The coin weighs 2.43 grams. Thanks!

Sorry, but both are due to wear and tear and damage

Both coins are damaged post strike. (not a mint error) Dime sanded. Cent poked holes into the surface. Just face value coins now.

Appears to be deliberate damage in both cases.
