Hi guys I am old but new to coin collecting, and I am trying to learn about errors at this time. I was hoping to get some insight on this particular 1987 D Lincoln Memorial penny. Is it just worn, or is there something more to it? Would really appreciate the feedback.

it may have had a rougher 35 years than most cents, but not out of the range of normal wear and tear

currency_novice,
Please tell us in detail what you are seeing as possible errors. I see a coin damaged during circulation.

If you want to learn about errors, you will have to do some studying on sites such as error-ref.com
Don't forget, it is only an error if it happens during the actual striking of the coin.
Anything that happens after that is considered damage which would eliminate over 90%
of the anomalies that you see on a coin.
The coin you submitted is just damaged and has zinc rot.

The CENT here is worn down beyond the copper plating layer to the zinc core. There is also signs of zinc rot to boot.
