Hi again, slowly getting my head around these little ancient coins.
I have one here, which I think is a Theodosius I.
There are a bunch of these from various mints, and I am trying to pin it down.
I got this information from Numismatics.org Online Coins of the Roman Empire
Obverse D N THEODO-SIVS P F AVG: Bust of Theodosius I, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed, right
Reverse SALVS REI-PVBLICAE: Victory advancing left, with right hand carrying trophy on shoulder and dragging captive with left; in left field, Tao-Rho;

Any clues would be appreciated.

Sounds like you did the proper research. It's a small flan, I can't see much of the mint mark to ID. Sometimes you just have to say unknown mint on the holder.

You could do an XRF (X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy) on the piece and compare to to other Theo's of known mints. Also look at pix of other Theo's and attempt to discern stylistic differences; tho that may be difficult.

I'd go w/ the XRF if you must know.

It's a nice piece you have. Theodosius I was very important as he did a lot formulating the early tenants of Christianity.

I'm looking for a Theodosius I myself for the above historical reasons. Would love to get a siliqua or a milarense.

Thanks for the reply Gallienus.
I'm happy to leave it as unknown for now. A bit of mystery is a good incentive.
I got ten of these little AE4's. If I find a second Theodosius I amongst them, I'll send it to you.

@ Gallienus
So as luck would have it, there were two more Theodosius I AE4's in the hoard, both are VOX / X / MVLT / XX's.
Sadly not silver, and not the best example, but if you would like one, send me a pm.
