Was looking at some Lincolns and saw this shiny quarter. Don't know too much about what's what with all of them but a quick look showed a nice DDO. Turns out it's FS-101, and after a quick check seems really quite common. Strong die you can get on the cheap.

So for the new ones to the site, ]Why is this not Machine Doubling? While on the Devices on the left side of the motto look similar to the Machine Doubling that we often see, note the devices on the right side of the motto? Note how they are not on the outside edge of the devices. If this were Machine Doubling, we would see the same contour removal on all the devices. On this coin note the "ST" on TRUST? See how the spread is on the center of these devices.
Here is a Machine Doubling example:
1963-Washington-Quarter-Doubled-Die---DDO-001,-FS-101
Note the direction is different on this coin, but note how all the devices are affected the same?
1963-Washington-Quarter-Doubled-Die---DDO-001,-FS-101
Also note how the devices enlarge the size of the doubled dies. On Machine Doubling, it just removes part of the contour on the coins devices?
So this eye training will help you see the differences even more. My eyes love to read a picture a lot more than reading a book. It shows what we could be seeing if we just use our eyes a bit more.

CoopHome: What differences do we seeing on Machine Doubling compared with a doubled die. eye training helps the searches catch what we could be missing. Enjoy the view on your searching travels
