1977 nickel. no mint mark. Error or damaged?

Please state as to what you are referring to as an error so that we are not guessing.
If you are referring to the rough fields, then those are flow marks from a worn die, not an error.

1977 philidelphia minted nickels didnt have a mint mark.

there is a really great free phone app produced by PCGS (prfoessional coin grading service) called coinfacts. the app has amazing pictures of all the coins as well as mintage and metal contenet info. check it out!

Just a normal 1977 (P) nickel with heavy circulation wear / damage.

Somehow this nickel has been damaged. Please crop your images to the edges of the coin, this will help eliminate wasted space and make your photos larger.

Looks like the coin was heated, altering the surfaces of the coin.
