Would appreciate any help on this. The first picture is from ebay listed as a WDDO-007. The second picture is from Wexler's. Do you think the first pic ( ebay) is a DDO or Machine Doubling? I have a bunch of these to look through and don't want to be thrown off. I'm thinking the ebay pic is Machine Doubling because it looks shelf like but not sure. Would appreciate any comments. Thanks.

You are correct. The first pics are slide doubling, which is form of MD.

Machine Doubling can also be seen on a DDO / DDR/RPM. So while it is less desirable, it can happen.

As well as altering the normal dies coins post strike.

@coop, in your pics the first 9 and the S mm are MD but the other digits are true doubled dies? Is that correct?

Many of the 1969-S DDO-001 show Machine Doubling. (Many of the 1968-1972 cents have Machine Doubling. A common issue these years) All 4 examples on that image are doubled dies. They yellow arrows are the areas showing the Machine Doubling. The MD look flat looking and that area of the devices have the contour of these coin removed/fattened after the strike. The movement from strike to strike can show differently, just depends on how loose the machine is.
