all coins sent to you are yours to keep, whether there's just 1 or 21

Yikes! I didn't know! I picked about 1/2 of the coins received.. both times..

so feel a little reluctant to propose something & have it under scrutiny.

Post it anyways

Your idea might spark the interests of others to expound upon it

When there is a sufficient number of ideas and no consent as to the preferred formula, we'd have to make a poll.

OK. As I said simialr to Geocaching, but maybe some small differences.

We start with a set number of coins, this number NEVER changes. I'd say we would need at least 5 to 10 coins, maybe more.

Each coin should be approximately the same curent worth, say $2 each. Depending on how many coins we decide to start with, we might have to ask for single coin contributions from a number of people to get it started.

All the coins are sent to 1 person (Player 1) to get the contest under way. A list is kept of all the coins sent and the list is posted in the first post of Round 1 of the new contest by Player 1 who would be a volunteer and initially doesn't get to keep any coins, but can enter round 2 and subsequent rounds until they secure a win.

We decide on how many entrants will be allowed per round, say just as an example we choose 10.

This will give more people a chance to be the winner. Once we have 10 entrants, round 1 is closed, a winner, Player 2, is drawn from the 10 entrants by Player 1, the coins are posted off to Player 2, who can choose say 1 to 3 of the coins, but Player 2 must replace those coins with another 1 to 3 coins of equal current worth.

Player 2 then re-does the list, posts it in a new thread so it's evident to all what coins have been removed & what the new coins on the list are. And it just keeps going on from there....

We would need to wait until a few rounds have finished before we decide on any limitations on previous winners becoming eligible to enter again. The 9 non winners from each round are eligible to keep entering following rounds until they become winners.

If no one is very interested, the whole thing could fall flat on it's face.

Please feel free to make any suggestions to alter or improve on this idea.

A new contest title would be a good place to start.

All are welcome!

My proposed details of the contest as mentioned above:

a) the number of coins - 6, 8, or 10.
b) the worth of each coin.. let's say $1.50+ no maximum value.. if someone wants to make a more generous gift, then he/she shouldn't be restrained by a maximum coin value.
c) the number that can be taken - from one coin up to 50% of the lot.

My observations:

Knowing exactly what's in the package may deter participants (who see that the contents is **** or don't collect those particular coins). Maybe the list should not be posted, but a written log sent along with the coins. Maybe not for this particular reason, but also to achieve the "surprise factor"

How would the drawing be done - it would be up to each participant, I guess. We'd have to rely on the honesty of the members, so we'd have to set up a X posts required to enter rule (75 or 100 maybe?). But still some may not want to send coins abroad - the costs are higher and the probability of the the package disappearing is higher as well - and on purpose pick someone from their country. How can that be prevented?

The 9 losers would of course be eligible, that goes without saying.
