Looks like a legitimate clip/error to me. Having said that, British error coins do not command much premium as in US coins do.

Clipped planchets normally show an anomaly on the opposite point on the coin. Yours has the clip under the date. There is a visible flattening above the central mast of the ship. This is known as a "blakesley effect". Some unscrupulous individuals will clip the coin post mint, and the lack of Blakesley effect is a sure giveaway. And agreed, most collectors of GB coins don't put much weight on errors such as this.
