2.6 grams, 15-16 millimeters. Bought in a lot of Nabatean coins
One side has an unknown picture of something wigh some Greek letters which are taken as the top but may not be.

The other side has a standing figure.

An overstrike, perhaps on a Ptolemaic issue. (Not uncommon for Nabataeans, apparently.) The Greek may what's left of BAΣIΛEΩΣ on the undertype. Interesting. With patience you may be able to decipher both the host coin and the overstrike.

Thanks, Bob:

I was afraid of something like that. What would be the likely century?

But the overstrike increases the cool factor! It's much more interesting as a result.

I guess second to first century BC. For comparison, here's a sampling of some other wacky Nabataean overstrikes upon Ptolemaic issues:

Going by the crest of Athena's helmet, visible in your lower pic, as well as the standing figure in the upper pic (presumably Nike), I'd venture a guess that your overstrike is similar to:

That linked coin is also an overstrike.

Eliminate the Nabataean iconography (Athena and Nike) from your images, and what remains is of the Ptolemaic issue.

Good point, Bob. I don't have such a dramatic overstrike in my collection, so it is worth keeping!
