Trying to figure out if this is some type of error or just PMD? Thank for any thoughts on what happened here. Had a little trouble getting decent close ups.

I think it might be a void in the clad layer.

not to counter your observation of this coin, but that sure does look raised to me (given the lighting). I think I can see what appears to be reflections on top of it and in the lower left quadrant, it loos to be transparent (clear on the field not like the yellowish color of other areas...

@Dearborn - here are a few additional photos. Tried to get some from a greater angle to show the issue better. The incuse area is very much a copper color. I did soak it for a few hours in acetone with no change. Thanks

Ok, so it appears you have a flaw in the copper clad layer. Unless you find someone who specifically collects such things, I see no real value in it.
