Looking for whatever insights I can get on this looks to be cleaned a bit... But date is nice and some good details on it. I'm thinking maybe vf 20-30? So thinking $2 was a pretty good deal

I'm at G-06 sharpness, but obverse cuts will likely detail it.

Well You overpaid by $1.50 . This coin is in real bad shape . Worn , cut , dinged , cleaned , scratched and can't tell if it's a D or S mint .
Time to Sharpen up on your grading and condition skills .

I agree with T-BOP.

This coin went through the ringer, no idea how you got VF.

Utilize PCGS photograde, it's at your hands.

KerryKz, the buff series is one of the most difficult series to grade as there were so many issues with striking and polishing particularly the earlier dates. if you want to collect this series I strongly suggest reviewing the many posts in the forum and look at the comments on how the grade was determined. using photograde for these is not much help.

for a while inside your head grade your coin and make your assessment notes, on the post dont put anything about it. let CCF comment for while, it saves face and some folks will post how they came to their decision. review those comments and compare how you saw the coin and if you had the same or close assessment of it.

like I said the buff series is one of those more challenging series especially for novices. this is one where earlier dates can trip up even a seasoned collector. you can use photograde to a certain degree but it is not cut and dry as other series with so many issues with the dies and manual manipulation of them as the dies got closer to the end of their lives.

best person to review their comments was fortcollins who I havent seen here for a while but if you search on buffalo and look at some of the older posts you will gain a huge amount of knowledge and insight.

the biggest issue with this coin that you missed was all the damage and scratches especially the reverse lettering and the buffs head. take in the whole coin first

dont give up it can take a while
