2019 D River Of No Return. 3 Issues

Thank you for looking at my coin. This Quarter appears to me to have some form of doubling on E Pluribus Unum the rest of the wording around the coin also exabits this feature not as strongly though. There is also a die crack running from the first U in Unum in the the the mountains. There is also a discrepency above UNUM in towards the center of the coin, I am not sure what to call this, is it also a die crack or is it called something else. As always your thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

There are no DDR's on that area of that design. It is Machine Doubling of incuse devices. The DDR's are on the central area of the design. I check 100 quarters a while back on the ATB examples. 70% of these showed light/strong Machine Doubling. on 30% didn't have any Machine Doubling. How to tell it is is Machine Doubling on a coin?
The striation lines. Note on your coin these fine lines where the metal moved and left these marks.

Note these lines? They are from the edge of the die, that moved post strike on this coin. (MD)

Even seen on off center coins, where the strike happens and the metal stretches during the strike. (The planchet was not contained in the collar)

Your coin has the best example of Machine Doubling incuse devices. So I will have to add images of this to my educational files.

CoopHome: Striation lines? What is that? movement of the dies that make find scratches when the metal slides/moves on the coin post strike. not a doubled die.

Thank you for the education on this topic. This was the strongest Machine Doubling I had encountered and figured it would be but I just had to ask. I am glad I could contribute to your files. Thank you for the comments.

All benefit when something new is spotted. I've seen a lot of Machine Doubling on these devices, but this was the best view of striation lines. You might save this one in your educational files for show and tell for a new collector. Then you can expand this information to the new collector. (Always the educator)
