Couldn't find this DDR on Wex, VV and CC. I know there are thousands already reported for 2009 but I haven't seen any DDR in this area of the coin. Also, there is a significant die chip in the center of the face of the cut log. I've included a composite of photos overlaying a normal 2009 FY and the coin in question. Before I submit to Wexler for attribution any helpful comments would be appreciated.. Thanks! "We are all flawed, some MD and some PMD." NYI

Interesting. I cannot tell for sure, from the pics, if it is a doubled die or a die chip though. You have the coin in hand and am sure can see things that we cannot. I don't think that there are any listings with doubling in this area, it would be cool to have a new one in a new spot on the die though. Good eye!

Could be a jump on the Die production CNC.

Thanks for the feedback Silv and Makecents. There are no DDR's listed for this area of the coin. It is also possible it is a die chip. I will leave it to the attributor to determine. I'll keep you posted. There is also something else interesting about this same coin. Lincoln's left index finger looks like it has a finger nail. It might be PMD but up close it looks just like a fingernail. If this is suppose to be a fingernail, it is in the wrong place on the finger. I have not seen this on any of my other 25 2009 FY cents.

I agree with the die chip theory. Too far away from the normal DDR area on a Single Squeeze DDR. The roughness is typical because when an chip happens on a die, it leaves a void. This void will be filled with metal from every strike until the die is retired. So the texture would be seen from the chip off on the die event.

Photos provided make it very difficult to make a definitive statement. Maybe a better closeup without the inserted boxes? As mentioned, there are thousands of variations of errors on this cent.

Sorry, I've already exceeded my closeup hardware or expertise. If it is a die chip, it is early and following the curved contour of the books pages.
