Here are new pictures of that 1912 dime! it looks real nice and has decent luster! but sadly the splotchy toning is still there. so I think imma still send it into my next ICCS submission! Unless anyone here has any idea how to conserve this coin cause it looks like a nice MS61-62

I'd say Unc details from the splotchy terminal toning. Also, it looks like it lost some luster from the dip, compared with your original photos.

Depending on what it cost, you might let ICCS conserve it. Also, you might try an acetone soak?Wait for the pros to comment on the acetone idea.

I think this needs a dip in jewel luster. I don't think acetone will get those dark spots out.

As it stands, I'd have to say Unc details.

It appears that an attempt was already made to improve the coin. The black areas remaining are most likely corrosion which is physical damage to the coin. If so and they are removed the underlying surfaces will be pitted. Just a thought.

It didn't have much luster, before I dipped it was dipped before but it was soaked in acetone for 24hrs

No difference.

I'd guess since 1912, that coin has been dipped about 20 times.

This is not mint state. It may not have ever been used to buy anything but that's a technicality - it's had some rough experiences in it's 110 year existence that have messed up the surface permanently. It's not even a clear AU. AU is all about surface lustre and there's no getting around the fact that it's got tightly clinging surface crud that detracts from eye appeal. The dip has certainly cleaned it up but it's also compromised the surface appeal in other ways. Further dipping will just exacerbate that further.

The most important grade element for this one is DETAILS. It's got lots of detail preserved from the original strike but the surface weirdness makes it difficult or impossible to align with Sheldon or Trends or any of that business.

I agree with most here and think it is mid to high AU, possibly with details. Look forward to you posting the TPG opinion whenever it comes back.
