Well this is an error with pretty low eye appeal, or even visibility. But it's still kind of cool and worth knowing what it is if you see one. Here the collar has split on opposite poles, with the gaps visible as small raised nibs on the edge reeding. Because of this, the coin is slightly wider in one direction. From nib to nib it is 29.7mm, while 90 degrees to that it is 30.0.

Interesting. Thanks again.

Never considered this type before. Sort of like a "collar Cud" as opposed to a reverse Cud or obverse Cud.

wow, someone had a good eye, do many people check each reed of a circulating, otherwise ordinary looking modern coin? I don't and would easily miss this example

It's actually naked eye visible if you know to look for it. Just a little bump that shouldn't be there in the reeding. Folks hunting rolls of half dollars would see it pretty easy when checking edges for silver. But again, need to know to look for it and likely not a very expensive error anyway but probably worth more than finding a regular silver half in a roll would be.

Thanks for the information. I've checked the edge for silver but didn't think to check completely around the edge for a little bump.
With looking at your coin. I would've just thought a little off center.

Everyone likes the big bombers, but still find it worth posting the minor stuff sometimes as the point is helping folks learn what's what out there.
