But it's still kind of cool and worth knowing what it is if you see one. Here the collar has split on opposite poles, with the gaps visible as small raised nibs on the edge reeding. Because of this, the coin is slightly wider in one direction. Just a little bump that shouldn't be there in the reeding. Folks hunting rolls of half dollars would see it pretty easy when checking edges for silver. But again, need to know to look for it and likely not a very expensive error anyway but probably worth more than finding a regular silver half in a roll would be. Report this Post to the Staff

I've checked the edge for silver but didn't think to check completely around the edge for a little bump. With looking at your coin. I would've just thought a little off center.
