One of the quite nice double varieties for the Jefferson series. This one has a tripled P mint mark as well as a fairly strong tripled reverse.

I never really thought about this before, but it sounds like this is both a RPM and a tripled die. In that case, the tripling on the mint mark isn't from adjusting the stamp on the die in between hits, but rather because the die is a DDR. Do I have that right?

I'm not really a nickel person, but I assume that the mint mark was hand-punched onto the dies this year and that there is no relationship between the RPM and DDR. Just happened that both ended up tripled but from totally different mechanisms.

nice, as uncommon as one word getting two Triple Word Scores in Scrabble, that's like 9x, or in this case 45 cents

War Nickels can be a fun short series

Ok thx for the clarification @tb. Seems like this could be one for @coop's files: tripling on two different design elements, from two different sources.
