PMD,maybe an early Dryer Coin. It did not leave the mint like that.I PMed the mods to move your post,you posted in the wrong section.

If you were to put this on top of an ordinary dime, you
would see the diameter is also smaller.
Thick rim + smaller diameter = either dryer or spooned coin.

I'll vote for a spooned coin here - if it spent time in a dryer I think it would be beat up a lot more on the obverse and reverse.

The purpose of spooning is to make rings, A dime ring sure won't fit on anyone's finger. Minimum is quarters for very small fingers, usually halves and dollars. I think dimes are rarely spooned since it's kinda pointless.
