I just logged onto ebay and saw their new " ebay Vault" announcement (maybe it's not new, but first time I'm seeing it).

https://www.ebay.com/vault

Basically, they'll store your trading cards in a secure vault, so when you buy and sell them the ownership instantly transfers. You never even have to see the card! Hmm...

I feel like they might try to expand this to coins if it goes well. How would you feel about this? I personally feel like this defeats the entire purpose of collecting something, but am curious to hear what others have to say.

Zero interest. I absolutely hate this idea.

However... since you never touch the item, I wonder if it would be IRA eligible.

They stole over 400 dollars of my money. I would not trust them.
Here's my tale of woe for this for those interested:

I would never use it. What if ebay folds, where is your stuff? Are you a last in line creditor? Get your stuff in your hands and put in a bank vault. Possession is nine-tenths of the law ---a famous quote:-)

This exactly. Not a fan of this concept.

I feel the exact same way towards people that leave their coin collection at a bank.
