I doubt this is real. However, if there were a return policy, I'd throw a few hundred bucks at this in a heartbeat and take it to a few dealers. Someone is probably going to wayyy overpay for this:

Yeah, rare coin if real 1870-CC. Of course, that messy plug covers the mm area.
Damage in the date area is troublesome too. Hard to determine value, imo.

The seller states "...make no gaurantees as to authenticity"

I agree with ShadowCreator, this is sold "as is" and that's nuts.

Could be an 1878-CC or might have had the "C" added. Damage to data/MM make this coin worth under $20 IMHO.

I doubt the seller is going to make off with the money. Whoever buys that is going to open a NASTY paypal dispute.

That IS crazy! I recently bought a problem free, 1878-CC Seated quarter in VF (it's really F15 to me) for $105 delivered. It's highly possible the coin in the link is a '78-CC that would net grade to FR02 and is worth about $15!

$1,525? If I may be so blunt--that thing is hideous and I doubt it can be verified at all. Sorry, but somebody has a bag of rocks for a brain.
