I have three
ebay tabs open right now (in 3 different categories) in Firefox, in addition to two tabs open for Coin Community.
No problem that I can see. In fact, I'd even say
ebay's a bit
faster than usual right now.
One thing here is that I have a dual-core processor and 3 GB of RAM.
Firefox 3 is a RAM hog, and with these five tabs open, Firefox
alone is using 132MB of RAM right now. (as shown in Windows Task Manager)
With only 512 MB of RAM, you'd be better off using
Opera.
A dual-core processor also avoids the "100% CPU usage" slowdown and crashing (in single-core processor computers) caused by memory leaks, bad program code, etc. It's possible that something on
ebay is causing 100% CPU usage when viewed with Internet Explorer.
The easy way to find that out is to open Windows Task Manager. In Windows 2000/XP, hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete and select the Performance tab.
Then, open Internet Explorer and go to
ebay. If the CPU usage graph hits 100%, shut down Internet Explorer (and try Opera from there!).
I also enthusiastically recommend the use of
CCleaner, which is far more thorough than Disk Cleanup...
