Does anybody else have this problem? I only seem to get it on ebay. ebay has never loaded quickly for me but lately it's much worse. When I browse from page to page it gets slower and slower until it just freezes and I need to ctl-alt-del out of it. My computer is pretty modern (P-4 chip, 512 ram) and I can negotiate other auction websites w/o a problem. Is this ebay's problem or mine? Thanks for any input.

Use Firefox!

ie7 used to freeze when on the forum, but Firefox doesn't have any kind of these problems.

Agreed - I have ongoing problems browsing ebay with Internet Explorer, but Firefox has no difficulty. Typical ebay, unable to make their site compliant with the browser 70% of their customers use.
Rest in Peace

Might be time to clear your cache, too.

It's the new and improved ebay , they have so much tracking and are always jamming stuff you might just want down your throat, I have the same issues too.
However on ebay's end they still keep a record of the stuff I buy or look at and they still kindly suggest stuff when I log in.
Like I have no brain of my own?
I have a program that I clean up my cookies history and temp files with and that does fix my problem.

The ebay freeze just started here during the past week. I thought it was me, as it so often is. But clearing all cache and even restoring to a month ago didn't help. I don't have firefox (yet) so I guess I'm done with ebay for awhile. I am comforted by the fact that it is on ebay's end instead of mine.

It is NOT your computer - it is ebay. Started about a month ago for me. Goes slower and slower until everything just freezes up.

I have three ebay tabs open right now (in 3 different categories) in Firefox, in addition to two tabs open for Coin Community.

No problem that I can see. In fact, I'd even say ebay's a bit faster than usual right now.

One thing here is that I have a dual-core processor and 3 GB of RAM.
Firefox 3 is a RAM hog, and with these five tabs open, Firefox alone is using 132MB of RAM right now. (as shown in Windows Task Manager)

With only 512 MB of RAM, you'd be better off using Opera.

A dual-core processor also avoids the "100% CPU usage" slowdown and crashing (in single-core processor computers) caused by memory leaks, bad program code, etc. It's possible that something on ebay is causing 100% CPU usage when viewed with Internet Explorer.

The easy way to find that out is to open Windows Task Manager. In Windows 2000/XP, hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete and select the Performance tab.
Then, open Internet Explorer and go to ebay. If the CPU usage graph hits 100%, shut down Internet Explorer (and try Opera from there!).

I also enthusiastically recommend the use of CCleaner, which is far more thorough than Disk Cleanup...

It is an intermittent problem with ebay not his computer. I have the same configuration you have only I have 6 GB of RAM and high speed internet. It does not happen with any other websites I use. It is ebay!

I just downloaded Firefox3 and am an instant convert. No more ebay freezes and it seems to run even faster than before the freezing began. The same is true on a couple of other sites that were beginning to cause the same problem. I also agree that CCleaner is a worthwhile cache cleaning tool.
