I don't think so. It means most of 1972 has some form of extreme minor doubling going on.

As John1 stated, the Doubled Master Die. Half or better of all 72's have this doubling, no extra value. Scroll all the way to the end of this link, WMDO-001.

A clue when searching the 1972 plain cents for the DDO is the date on the '9' digit:
1972-Lincoln-Cent-DDO
Note on the '9' on these cents. Note the examples at the top with the normal and the master die issues, they are not affected, just the DDO's are. Speed up the process.

CoopHome: How to speed up the searches on the 1972 cents? look at the '9' on the date.

I am confused by the responses here. Assuming the OP meant FS-109 (not 009), why is the discussion about how the coin shows MDD and that this is a bad thing. FS-109 is on a die that DOES have master die doubling so that would be the first die marker toward authentication not a discounting factor. Anyway, the area over the horizontal bar of the 2 does seem like there could be some doubling there (or a bit of staining), but not really strong enough to be FS-109.

I overlooked that tropicalbats, my bad. I guess when I saw LIBERTY and IGWT pics posted, that was what the OP was referring to.
