Hi all,

I assume this coin is Indian as I purchased with 4 other coins that are definitely Indian. I've put the measurements into Zeno but came up empty handed so am hoping someone from CC can help.
Weight = 6.51g
Length = 16.9mm
Width = 9.4mm
Composition = probably copper.

Thanks

I've got absolutely no clue. Almost looks like the Nike swoosh.

Someone will be along I'm sure with some impressive knowledge.

Although I didn't find a match in Zeno, just wanted to mention for whatever it may be worth (or not) that the Elichpur mint in Mughal India made many copper coins of irregular, elongated, roughly rectangular shape.

Very thick square or rectangular copper coins are very common in the Mughal period.

I was visiting Mumbai in 1970, and I bought about a half dozen copper dump coins for something like a dollar each (in 2022 values). At he time, I hadn't a clue what I was buying, but they seemed cheap enough.
As it has turned out, (I had no idea) that taking heritage coins out of India was a jailable offence, and I am sure that some officious administrator would have pushed that policy to the limit, to earn brownie points from his boss, even for a few low valued common coins. I have seen this sort of thing happen since then.

Hindsight tells me I was lucky to get away with it. Other tourists have been jailed.

The weight is odd for this, at 20g a Mughal dam doesn't divide into 6g easily, the weight is right for the Ujjain series of Falus - but the style is wrong...

It actually reminds me of something like this;

rather than a Mughal issue.

I did wonder if it had been cut at some point.
