Greetings forum! I was wondering if this 1979 Jefferson nickel depicts a DDR? I have been studying coins for some time now, but am confused, as Jefferson nickels are notorious for MD. Any help would be greatly appreciated and please let me know if these pictures suffice.

All Machine Doubling. Not a doubled die. Machine Doubling is caused by the strike. A doubled die comes from a doubled die. Machine Doubling can be seen on normal and doubled dies, but Machine Doubling never makes a doubled die. ( Machine Doubling is damage to the coin after the fresh striking of the coin)

@adh, first welcome to CCF. Second, you can tell when doubling is Machine Doubling when it appears step-like and causes the letters to be thinner. Nice work with the picture-taking by the way.
