The other pennies in this bunch also had these black spots on them. I took a couple that were pretty circulated and picked at the spots and some of them came off. So maybe not carbon spots here? These are the best pictures I could get—I tried a compression app and by the time I got them under 300 they were worse than this. I can keep trying if I have to.

Larger images needed for accurate grading.

DARNIT! OK, my scope is out of commission as far as taking photos (need a new SD card because the one that came with it got chewed up), so the best I could do was try with my phone and another camera. None of these are great photos, but maybe good enough?

Long story short, other than a couple small (maybe) carbon spots and a tiny rim ding, these are pretty problem-free coins. No wear, no marks from circulation. I have my own guess, but I was curious whether the zinc zits lowered the grade. There's also the weak ST on Trust—I am guessing Struck Through Grease?

I wouldn't send these in for grading—they're not super valuable coins. Just learning.

Those are both nice looking examples, no major hits, nice fields.

Thanks! I was surprised to find coins this old with so little damage in pocket change. The kind of thing that makes your day.

Thanks, guys! My guess was 65 for the first one and maybe 64+ for the one with the spots on Abe's cheek and the steps (unless an acetone bath removes them). Getting better at this, thanks to you guys!
