How did this make it out of the mint?
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Possibly gripped with pliers, dipped in liquid nitrogen, and then smacked / shattered.

I notice you have been handling pennies recently. Will you be changing your Moniker to Penniesguy anytime soon?

I am impressed at how well struck that one is, even with it being that thin.

Maybe 200 to 300 hundred but there seems to be few collectors of fragments

Agreed SPP. It is a nice full strike considering. Press must have been set hard...... John100 it has been interesting to watch the error market (in particular 1 cent) coins the last 10 years or so. The majority follow the advice of a few about eye appeal and so called wow factor but have lost sight of the actual rarity. Fun to debate around the camp fire. Value is truly only what someone will pay for it.

The really crazy prices for Canadian errors are for the big wow or for the larger coins, Heritage Fun around 2020 a 1979 fragment cent sold for around 200.00 and I think the same part coin has been on ebay for a long time but at a very high BO if priced right everything will sell, still a cool coin !
