Never explored misprinted money before, but this one looks off. Can anyone tell me about it? If it's worth anything?

Welcome to CCF.
That is really cool. I've never seen anything like it. Is there any printing on either side of the piece under the strip ? This must have happened during production at Crane, the company that produces the security paper for the BEP. Can you photograph the note at an angle showing the piece sticking up ? What happens when you gently pull on the piece ? Does it move ?

Hi. It does not move, is definitely under the strip and has no writing. I tried to upload better pics. The last pic is from something similar I found on ebay.

Your upright pic does in fact appear to clearly show writing - namely, the upper part of the word "July" in "July 4, 1776".

AFAICT this area of the strip should actually have been covered by paper (and the word "July"). This means, most likely, it's not a misprint; rather, the upper layer of paper had probably been peeled off, exposing the strip.

I sincerely apologize for this conclusion.

The blue strip is sort of "woven" into the paper, and somehow, either on purpose or accidentally the paper strip has dis-attached itself from the other side.

Post BEP trauma, is my diagnosis.

It's a cool note, poorgal. But don't confuse ebay asking price for actual value.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
