I am not really sure what you are asking. The close up picture you took shows what I think you are asking about. The extra metal near the " L, the U and the stem of the plant. What are you trying to ask.

This could be part of the die wearing out or breaking away allowing for this area to have a raised bit of metal. Another possibility could be small die gouges.
