So I casually asked my local coin dealer if he had any nice walkers in XF-AU or above.

He said "what dates? later ones?"

I said "No, better dates like the 33-S or earlier ones"

He replied "Alright, let me go start up the coin making machine out back"

I would be interested in utilizing this "coin making machine" as well...........I think a 1908 S V.D.B. Lincoln would be a good seller !......

You might not be so quick to ask that question in a big established coin dealer that actually has VF-to-MS early Walkers.

One of my local dealers has a 1917-D (Obv.) NGC MS-63 and a 1921-S PCGS EF-40 in their case.

This is the same dealer who wants me to buy their 1893-S Morgan. (that's not exactly a coin you buy on 'impulse'! )

(I can get it for a nice amount under Greysheet bid if I pay cash!)

Hey coop, those fantasy coin pictures are awesome!

I've been wanting a 1905-1920 Morgan Set in a faux Dansco. The 1906-D, 1906-S and 1909-O and would be logical choices for the "keys"....

Is it just me, or is the light source wrong for the '5' on the Half Dollar?

jbuck: It could be. The 5 was from another coin. None minted with that date that year.

This is an interesting fantasy coin:

As an aside, are there any known examples of a 1944 cent on a steel planchet?

Good question, I have heard of a copper 1943 cent but don't think I have ever heard of a steel 1944 cent from anyone, but of course I don't follow the series all that tightly because it just doesn't interest me in the least (all I cared about was the ones needed to fill the holes in my 7070 album)

Seems like there were about the same number as the 1943 copper ones. But they usually range in the 25% value of the 1943 copper. Just not as much in demand.
