Can anyone tell me what this error is on this coin? The letter a nicely doubled on both side of the coin as well as the roots and the obverse has a strange looking chip out of it leaving a golden color behind. Is that a mint error?

I think that the gold "chip" is debris or some foreign substance stuck to the coin.

As Spence mention, the " gold chip" is just some sort of foreign debris on the coin's surface.

Please always show us the complete coin ( not just pieces), both sides. Thanks.
