I have a 2000 Maryland State Quarter with "bumps" on both the front and back. I was curious if it was an error?

Heat damaged coin. Possible left over from a campfire or a house fire:

These damaged coin will need to be flattened to fit into a vending machine. But just a damaged coin, not a mint error.

Yes, post-strike damage--looks to be exposure to intense heat.

Just post mint damage. How/when? Who knows unless your were there when it happened. Damage is damage.
