Nice pics. I'm no expert on the matter but from what I know about DDO's this may be machined. You might want to try coinfacts as they may have a picture of this particular variety. Others with more experience on cent varieties will chime in soon .....

Hard to say. 1972 has some very similar and in order to be sure of what I will say I have to see TRUST and LIBERTY close pics.

I am by far no expert, I would like to see full pik of coin with medium light. I tell ya, l sure do get slowed down, when I am searching for Doubling on those 72s. I look them over good. Wexlers has different examples. They come in 4 classes weak, to strong.

I've got a feeling. Is this from your gallery or someone else's? How about a full Obverse and Reverse image. Thanks, Doug.

This is a coin I found online and was looking to buy, but I needed to know if it looked authentic to anyone else. This is all the photos that were posted. Thank you all.

Looks like a 1972 DDO-003 from what I can see. The 2 on the date is a clue.

Coop is correct. The coin is obviously a doubled die, and the only question is which one. This is DDO-003 in stage C or later. So to answer your original question, it is not "the" 1972 doubled die, which I suppose would mean the big DDO-001, but it is "a" doubled die and a fairly strong one at that. But huge price difference between 001 and 003. Is it a good example? Who knows since you can't see most of the coin in the photos.

I just sold one of these at auction on ebay last week. Coin was a strong MS65 and sold for $27. That's pretty low for how nice the coin was. I have one up now that's not as nice, maybe a solid MS63 or low 64, and it is currently at $46. That's too high for the coin and folks should have been paying more attention to the better one last week. But that's how auctions work. So in your case $39 would be in the zone, but why would you buy a coin you can't see?
