My dealer has had my Three Cent Silver for almost five weeks. I gave it to him to send to PCGS for grading. He told me last week that he called about his shipment that included several of his coins and other customer besides myself. They told him that they were still in the que and had not been graded yet. Is five weeks a typical wait period for PCGS? Anyone else have any recent experience? Thanks.

PCGS had my coins for 2 months once! Hang in there and check with your dealer often. I am a member of the PCGS Collectors Club. Skip the dealer all together and send them in yourself

I went through my dealer once and it turned out he sat on the coins until he was able to add some of his own to make a single larger submission. That delay added about 4 weeks to the total cycle! "Normal" turnaround for PCGS seems to be about 5 to 6 weeks.

If you have 8 (or more) coins that you want graded it is worth joining the PCGS Collector Club at the Platinum level. The $199 fee gives you 8 free standard submissions, plus you get access to their population report.

I recently spoke with a dealer who said he holds all bulk submissions until after the peak season ends in May so that he won't have to face a 5-to-6 week wait. Apparently, the time of the year matters, somehow.
