1948 South Africa 5 Shillings With Die "flake" On Reverse?

Khromtau Pillar of the Community United States 676 Posts	Posted 12/17/2022 5:23 pm I picked this coin up at a show earlier and was wondering if I am seeing a die "flake"(or chip,but flake seemed more appropriate)? It is not very tall, but there is definitely a raised area on the springbok's back, in the middle. I was looking at pictures online and did not see any with a raised area like mine has. Any thoughts? I think there are deep scratches around this area that give an optical impression of a raised area that probably is not really there. A delamination usually has a 3-dimensional edge or lip, which I also do not see here. Report this Post to the Staff
