As I'm looking for a doubled ear 1983 I notice that the eye seems doubled and there is a possible die crack from the left of the O in GOD down around the back of the ear and neck to the front of the shoulder to the rim. Amongst either damage or a clash of dies I'm not sure so I'm asking, Is this a double ear and is that crack due to a split die? Thank you again for all the information given.

I do not see any Die crack here.
Not a Ear Doubling The ear doubling always it is Hub Doubling. In this case the plating can play you jokes.
Close pic for Eye is request in order to discern.

Sorry, this looks normal to me. Maybe some better pictures with different lighting may help you demonstrate what you are seeing in hand.

Just a light Grease Fill on the shoulder. Not a plus for this coin. On a doubled ear, the affected areas will be raised above the other devices/bust/fields. To appreciate this open up this image (below) to full size and look a the raised devices will look like on doubled ears.

Examine what is raised that is not there on a normal coin? Then your eyes will be trained what to look for on these.
(the ear is the highest area on the center of this design. Thus contact marks will leave an incuse mark on that area. If it not an incuse mark you should be looking for, but a raised area)
