You can start this project with hand gauges. I verify CMM results with hand gauges.

We now agree that precision is not important at this time. The methodology is what counts. When the method is established precision will follow.

If the marks on the outside/inside edges are incuse (lower than the rim) it would be alteration post strike. A striking issue, post strike. ( Machine Doubling or coin damage) Raised outer edge marks would be a fin issue.

OK I have to made anyone understand that those ideas, which are not bad and also logic from one point of view: was already calculate. Majority are negligible quantities in calculus or insignificant quantities. EX: MD in the case of a rotated coin Design will represent 0.25 deg, which it is insignificant. And so long.

The conclusion here it is IF SOMEONE has the medians of the coins designs. This mean the line which can cut the coin and the design in half O and R in the original design,.

Each and every coin will have its own median based on the diameter. You need to know the diameter of each and every coin evaluated.

@suttodh: I know all the diameters, all specs of any design of the coins. What I do not know it is the ALLIGMENT points of the Observe and Reverse.
