The devices were transferred off of another coin. It is were a strike issue, then the affected area would be raised and normal looking.

Note on your coin just the highest areas of the coin is affected. I'm thinking this was done with two coin, two pieces of wood and a hammer. Why? Because only that one area was affected. (where the hammer head made the fatal blow) If this were done in a vise, then all the devices would be seen on the victim coin:
