(Types one and two on the Proof coins that year) A new punch was added on 1981 Proof coins also. Report this Post to the Staff

The blob S is a 1979 type 1 mint mark which is different from the 1981 type 1. This blob S is similar to mintmarks around 1978-1979 which often looked like blobs on both S and D. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 12/27/2022 12:29 pm The type two are only on the Proof coins that year. So the normal mintmark you are seeing are on the business strike coins from that mint that year. Only proofs need to be checked. (Note the description on the my images?)
