OK, so I found this one dime that stuck out from any other time that I have seen in my life, it caught my interest to collect coins. Is this worth anything?

That is a damaged coin. How the damage occurred does not matter because it did not leave the mint like that.

Yes, post-strike damage. Shows signs of being squashed./flattened some.

Agree with the above, but if it spurred your interest in collecting coins then that poor damaged dime served a valuable purpose!

Yes, It's great to hear someone post how and why they are entering the hobby. If I might offer one sound piece of advice, collect what you like and not what you think others would approve of. You are absolutely heading in that direction with posting these, they leave you wondering what happened to them and why. Coinage is a direct connection to the past which you hold in your hands.
