Seeing how the 'laminations' are located at the rim in all locations, it seems to me that the top layer was chipped off, as if the coin was hit or dropped.
I'm curious about another thing - are there any loose edges where you would be able to lift off any more of the surface? - Now DON'T do that, I'm just curious if there are any loose areas.

From just holding the coin and close inspection no other areas seem to be loose or feel like they could come off
