Yes, need closer-in, sharp images. Too, include large and sharp pics of the full coin--o0verse and reverse.

Keep in mind the larger sized coins are more affected by Machine Doubling. The devices look normal sized, but a closer view will show if it is Machine Doubling or not. Machine Doubling will look like a stair step below the normal area of the devices. It will be flat like a step and show a 90 degree angle, also like a step: While this DDO has the same step like hub doubling it is a DDO. Why is the difference? Note the width/height of the devices are larger than the normal coin above the lower image: Machine Doubling is a striking issue. A doubled die has doubling on the die. You can have a coin with Machine Doubling and a doubled die. But Machine Doubling never creates a doubled die. A doubled die, creates a doubled die coin.

@frod, first welcome to CCF. Second, when I rotate, enlarge, and enhance your pics, the Machine Doubling on UNITED becomes more evident. As mentioned above, the Machine Doubling causes a reduction in the width of the devices.

United States looks like MD. I don't know enough about the eagle to say. I'm sure others will comment on it. And welcome.

Looking at the outside edges of devices will find you extreme die wear or Machine Doubling. Look at the center of the devices to see spread on the devices. That is what to look for. (forget the outside edges of devices) No listing on V.V on this mints DDO's. But you can check the 1974-S to see what to look for on a DDO for that year: http://www.varietyvista.com/13%20Ei...201974-S.htmNote the spread enlargement of the devices. The other two mints have no listings.
